Abstract
Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease that most often affects the lung parenchyma, usually caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The level of success of treatment or the Treatment Success Rate (TSR) is influenced by several factors, including patient factors, drug swallowing supervisory factors and drug factors (National TB Guidelines, 2020). The purpose of this study was to describe the success factors for tuberculosis treatment at the Abepura Public Health Center, Jayapura City in 2021. This type of research is descriptive with a retrospective approach. This research was conducted at the Abepura Health Center in July 2022. The study population was patients with tuberculosis who had successfully recovered during treatment in 2021. The sample of this study was 48 people. The results showed that the characteristics of the most respondents came from the age group of 17–25 years as many as 17 people (35%), the respondents were male as many as 25 people (52%) and women as many as 23 people (48%), the most respondents had final education, namely high school as many as 35 people (73%) than other education, and dominantly have private jobs as many as 23 people (48%). The level of knowledge of respondents is known to be good as many as 44 people (89%), treatment adherence of respondents is known to be obedient as many as 42 people (87%), the role of the Drug Swallowing Supervisor is known to support 47 people (98%) and the final results of treatment of respondents are all said to be cured as much as 48 people (100%). Conclusion: The success factors for tuberculosis treatment at the Abepura Health Center in Jayapura City in 2021 include Patient Characteristics, Knowledge Level, Compliance, and Drug Swallowing Supervisor and it is known that the final results of treatment for all patients undergoing treatment in 2021 is cured.
