Abstract

Traditional medicine is an ingredient or herb that has been used for generations for treatment, one of which is the treatment of malaria. Malaria is a parasitic infectious disease caused by Plasmodium that attacks erythrocytes and is found in asexual forms in the blood. This research was conducted to know the description of the use of traditional medicine for the treatment of malaria in Hamadi Rawa 1. This type of research is a descriptive study. The sample took as many as 185 respondents. The study was conducted in July 2022. The results were obtained based on the characteristics of the respondents in Hamadi Rawa 1, the most age group categories were the age of 36–45 years as many as 83 respondents (45%), the most gender was Male as many as 104 respondents (56%), the last education was high school as many as 71 respondents (38%), and the most work was private as many as 74 respondents (40%). The type of plant that most people use is papaya leaves as many as 73 respondents (39%). The reason people use traditional medicine for malaria treatment is that it is made from natural ingredients as many as 78 respondents (42%). The community's way of processing traditional medicines for malaria treatment is by boiling them as many as 126 respondents (68%). The place where respondents get traditional medicine for malaria treatment is on the home page of 80 respondents (43%). The time of using traditional medicine is 2× a day for as many as 75 respondents (41%). So it can be concluded that the use of traditional medicine in the treatment of malaria in Hamadi Rawa 1 Village is dominated by the use of boiled papaya leaves and taken 2 times a day.
