Abstract

Sapodilla leaf is one of the plants that can be used as traditional medicine because it contains active substances that can inhibit the growth of bacteria and fungi. Based on this, sapodilla leaves have antibacterial activity with chemical content, namely alkaloids, tannins, and triterpenoids. The purpose of this study was to determine the antibacterial activity of sapodilla leaf infusion (Manilkara zapota L.) on the growth of Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 bacteria at concentrations of 10%, 20% and 30%. This type of research was laboratory research using infusion method with aquadest solvent which is then tested for antibacterial activity using disc diffusion method with Ciprofloxacin as a positive control and aquadest as a negative control conducted at the FMIPA laboratory of Cendrawasih University in July 2022. The results of antibacterial testing of sapodilla leaf infusion against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 bacteria with an average inhibition zone of 10% concentration of 8.86 mm, 20% concentration of 9.89 mm and 30% concentration of 10 mm. In this study it can be concluded that the antibacterial activity of sapodilla leaf infusion (Manilkara zapota L.) against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 the best concentration is at a concentration of 30% with a moderate inhibition zone category.
