Abstract
Pulmonary Tuberculosis (pulmonary TB) is a contagious infectious disease caused by bacteria Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Side effects that often arise from using TB drugs include nausea, vomiting, reddish urine, leg pain, pain and swelling. This can affect TB patient compliance in taking medication. The Sentani Health Center ranks first for TB cases in Jayapura Regency in 2021. The purpose of this study was to find out an overview of adherence based on adherence to treatment of pulmonary tuberculosis patients at the Sentani Health Center, Jayapura Regency. This study used a descriptive research type which was conducted by looking at the results of medical records to collect data on 96 TB patients conducted in May at the Sentani Health Center, Jayapura Regency. Based on the results of the study, the most age group patients were in the 17–25 year group with 28 patients (29.17%). There were more male patients in the male sex group than female patients who had side effects in 35 patients (36.45%). The old group suffered the most for 2–6 months with a total of 57 patients (59.38%). Types of OAT side effects most experienced side effects of vomiting as many as 34 patients (35.42%). 52 patients (54.17%) adherence to taking OAT medication. In conclusion, there is no relationship between OAT side effects and patient medication adherence.
