Abstract

Red fruit (Pandanus conoideus Lam.) is a fruit that has many benefits for health and beauty, where red fruit has high antioxidants, helps protect the skin from sunlight, is useful for preventing the appearance of wrinkles on the skin and helps prevent premature aging. This study aims to determine the physical quality test of peel-off gel mask preparations from red fruit juice (Pandanus conoideus Lam.) with varying concentrations of Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA). This research was conducted in a pharmaceutical preparation technology laboratory. The research was carried out in May–June 2023. The results of this research showed that variations in PVA concentration had a significant effect on the pH test, homogeneity test, adhesion test, spreadability test and dry time test. Skin pH ranges from 4.5–7.0 so it is safe to use at concentrations of 8% (F2) and 9% (F3) with a pH of 7.0, in the homogeneity test the concentration variations have a homogeneous composition, spreadability test and adhesion test concentration variations meet the test requirements for a mask diameter of 5–7 cm and meet the criteria for adhesion of more than 4 seconds, and in the dry time test where a concentration of 8% (F2) shows a good time of 20 minutes. The conclusion of this research is that the juice of red fruit (Pandanus conoideus Lam.) is the most effective variation of PVA concentration as a film layer, namely a concentration of 8% (F2), which shows that the test results for the peel-off gel mask preparation are better and have a distinctive fragrance.
