Abstract

Traditional medicine is still widely used as an alternative in society, this is proof that people still recognize the efficacy of traditional medicine, thus the types of plants that can be used as medicine must be preserved and maintained so that they can be used as traditional recipes inherited from previous parents in an effort to support health services. The purpose of this study was to find out an overview of the use of traditional medicine for self-medication in Kampung Waena. The data collection method in this study is to use the survey method. The population in this study is the entire community of Waena Village which is located in RT 001, RT 002 / RW003. Data collection is carried out through the dissemination of questionnaires. The analytical technique used is analytical descriptive analysis, which is to reveal a problem and situation as it is, so that it is only a disclosure of facts. The results showed that the characteristics of respondents in Waena Village were obtained by the highest respondents in the age group of 31-40 years as many as 46 respondents (47%), with a female gender of 58 respondents (60%). The types of diseases that have been suffered and treated by themselves are dominated by the type of disease or stomach ulcer sufferers as many as 30 respondents (31%). The most common purpose of using traditional medicine in the people of Waena Village is the treatment or cure of sudden / mild diseases as many as 81 respondents (84%). The group of traditional medicinal products used in medicine in the community of Waena Village is dominated by Standardized Herbal Medicine (OHT), which is 44 respondents (45%). The time of use of traditional medicine in Kampung Waena is Indeterminate, namely 72 respondents (74%). Respondents' behavior towards the use of traditional medicine was positive as many as 97 respondents (100%). Conclusion: Traditional medicine is widely used to treat minor illnesses using OHT (Standardized Herbal Medicine) class of medicine.
