Abstract
The occurrence of tsunamis in Indonesia poses a unique threat to the
community, which requires good preparedness, including knowledge and skills. A formula is needed to enhance such preparedness, one of which is a tabletop disaster simulation related to tsunamis. The purpose of this study was to determine the influence of tabletop disaster simulation (TDS) on enhancing community preparedness in dealing with tsunami disasters in Holtekamp village, Jayapura city. The research design used was quasi- experimental with a two-group pre-post-test design approach. The sample size was 86 respondents using purposive sampling technique. The analysis used Wilcoxon and Mann-Whitney tests with a significance level of α = 0.05 (95% CI). Wilcoxon test results showed that both the conventional method and tabletop disaster simulation (TDS) influenced community preparedness for tsunami natural disasters in Holtekamp village (p = 0.000). Based on the average value, it is known that the tabletop disaster simulation (TDS) method (56.01) is more effective compared to the conventional method (30.99). Meanwhile, the Mann-Whitney test results showed a difference between the conventional method and TDS (p = 0.000). The conclusion is that simulation with the tabletop disaster simulation method is effective in increasing community preparedness to face tsunami disasters in Holtekamp village.
